Director and Producer Sacha Sommer graduated from Emerson College in the early 1990s with a degree
in film, and quickly got his foot into the door of the film and entertainment
industry. Working with stars like Charlie Sheen, Dick Clark, Tupac, Kevin
Nides, and Terry Power, Sacha Sommer built up an impressive resume and list of
production credits for himself early in his career. Sacha Sommer’s name can be
found in the credit list for films (Dominic’s Castle, Scandalous, City Dragon,
The Chase), TV Shows (Bloopers and Practical Jokes, How I Spent My Summer
Vacation), and music videos (I Get Around, Keep Your Head Up).
Sacha Sommer’s biggest break came in 1995, when he directed
and produced his first independent documentary, “Intervention: Chronicles of
Terror,” which attracted investors who helped him found his own production
company, Arawak Pictures Inc. Since then, Sacha Sommer has worked on a variety
of non-fiction productions, most notably Call & Response: A Concert To End
Slavery, as well as documentaries on Voodoo in Haiti, Macchu Picchu, and The
Anti-Barbie. Sacha Sommer has contributed to
public service announcements on drunk driving, and produced recruitment
commercials for the US Army, which can be found at goarmy.com. Also during
2005, he was hired as a translator by the US Army and United Nations since he
speaks French and Haitian Creole fluently. During Operations "Just Cause,"
he worked directly with Psyops, Special Forces, and the military police.
When not producing films, Sacha Sommer has developed a few
other careers for himself, as well. While living in Miami
in the mid 2000s, Sacha Sommer was a PE coach and high school art teacher at
the SMART School. In recent years, Sacha Sommer
has started a small modeling career, and his image can be found in ad campaigns
for the Bank of Dubai and Kodak, as well as in music videos for popular bands
like the Foo Fighters. Sacha Sommer is also a reiki and crystal healing
practitioner and an archery instructor in Los
Angeles, and takes on graphic design and editing work
on a freelance basis.
